SENER is participating in Middle East Rail with urban transport projects in the Middle East02/03/2017
SENER, renowned for its infrastructure and transport projects, is currently developing railway lines and urban transport systems in the Middle East, where the company has local offices in Abu Dhabi, Doha, Muscat and Riyadh. The company’s main projects will be showcased at the forthcoming edition of the Middle East Rail trade fair, due to be held in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) on March 7 and 8, and which SENER will be attending for the fourth time. SENER’s presence at this important sector event reasserts its capacity to tackle the most important railway projects in the Middle East, where it has an extensive and acknowledged track record.
Projects in the Middle East
In Qatar, SENER is responsible for the independent consulting engineering (ICE) function for the Lusail Light Rail Transit (LRT) being developed by the QDVC consortium. SENER also designed the elevated stretch of Doha Metro’s Red Line South. SENER is currently designing the architectural finishes and landscaping of the elevated stations on the Red Line South, Red Line North and Green Lines, as well as the workshops and depots for Doha Metro. The company is also carrying out work in other markets, such as the project for the Doha’s New Port, where it is engaged as independent reviewer for the design of the Port Systems.
In the United Arab Emirates, SENER has produced the preliminary design of Abu Dhabi's Light Rail Transit (LRT) and is working on the design and supervision of the electrical and mechanical installations for the extension of the Red Line of the Dubai Metro.
This experience is further endorsed by projects in other countries such as Saudi Arabia, where SENER is currently working as ICE on lines, 4, 5 and 6 of Riyadh Metro for the FAST consortium.
High Speed Railways
In the UK, SENER is part of the consortium that was awarded the Engineering Delivery Partner (EDP) contract by High Speed Two (HS2) Limited, the government company commissioned with developing and promoting the new high-speed railway line connecting London with the north of England, together with the companies CH2 and Atkins. SENER will be working over the next 10 years to provide support to HS2 in the design, construction and commissioning of the new London-Birmingham high-speed line that will cover a distance of 230 km.
In the USA SENER is also developing the conceptual engineering of the high-speed project for the 72-km section that runs from north to south between the stations of Palmdale and Burbank Airport for the California High Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA).
Infrastructure and Transport
Today, SENER is a leading firm in urban transportation and the railway sector throughout the world. In total, SENER has worked on studies and projects for more than 10,000 km of track, making it one of the leading companies in this sector. The group has also earned itself a strong international reputation as a designer and supplier of intelligent transport systems that incorporate high-tech solutions.
